Filipino Days

Click on "play" to see photos from our fabulous Filipino days that were held in October 2011.

As you will see from the pictures, the children had a wonderful time learning a traditional song and dance from the Philippines, trying delicious authentic food and creating a Christmas lantern - which is still a tradition in the Philippines today.

The parents of all our Filipino children helped to create an amazing day that the children will never forget. The whole school gathered in the hall to meet the parents before the day began and got to see the children's parents and the children in their traditional dress. The parents also came with many, various artefacts that the children were able to handle and learn about.

One parent wrote directly to Mrs South:

"I wanted to write and say how much my children enjoyed the Filipino days this week. We feel so fortunate to belong to a school that takes such a creative and culturally rewarding approach to learning. I am overwhelmed by how much time, effort and enthusiasm was put into both days by the huge number of parents, many of whom had clearly taken time off work to partake. Everyone put so much effort into dressing in their beautiful outfits, and all looked so very proud to be sharing their heritage with our children. Please can you pass on our thanks to all the families that made it such a wonderful day".

We would like to echo the thanks to all our parents that helped make this such a special day. We hope you enjoy seeing the photo reel and appreciate it as much as we did.
