Year 2

All children will recap Phase 5 from summer 1 of the year 1 programme. This will give the children time to consolidate and revise their previous learning, whilst giving some children time to 'catch-up'.

From the Spring term some children will continue to receive daily support for their phonics.

All children will be developing their spelling, punctuation and grammar skills, according to the National Curriculum.

Phonic Screener

In the Summer term, Year 1 children are required to sit the 'Phonic Screening Check'. This is a short reading test made up of phonically decodable words, some of which are real and some of which are 'alien' or made up words. This 'Sound Families Mat' shows the main di- and trigraphs that children will need to recognise and read as part of a word.
